Job Summary
When a permanent teacher is absent, or a temporary vacancy at a school becomes available, schools often require the services of supply teachers. These guys undertake temporary teaching contracts at different schools in different locations. Supply teachers are needed in primary, secondary, sixth form and further education institutions.
Daily Supply teaching is an excellent option for people who are not familiar with London primary and secondary schools or are unable to give a full commitment as they want to be freed up for travel and other activities. It is also ideal for teachers who may enjoy the challenge of working in a range of schools or for teachers who have yet to secure a permanent job.
If you are keen to become a Supply Teacher you will need to be willing to be on call in the morning to be sent into schools when they are down a staff member for the day or even half-a-day.
Candidates must have:
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or QTS)
- Overseas police check (if applicable)
- Current CRB (or willing to undertake a new one)
- Two recent education referees
Responsibilities
you will be responsible for teaching in various schools throughout the East London area and will either teach your subject area or provide general teaching support at times as well.
You will be responsible for:
- creating a positive learning environment
- managing behaviour in the classroom as appropriate and ensuring pupils are completing the work set by teachers during periods of absence.
- Work can be for as short term as 1 day, however some roles can continue for a number of months.
